I want to send out a BIG THANKS to all of you for your help in making our 5th Annual Children’s Shopping Spree a success. In this tough economic time, we were able to scrape funds together from friends, family, and businesses to put smiles on the faces of 66 kids in Douglas County.
Lauren was on the ball as co-chair was able to help secure the donation of breakfast from McDonald’s and haircuts with Brooke’s help.
I didn’t take a child shopping this year, which is a very rewarding experience. However, I did get to witness the joy pouring from the kids as they walked out with bags full of new clothes. I want to share a few comments I got from parents/guardians:
“My son and three grand-daughters live with me and we barely get by on my disability income. This is the only time my girls get new clothes every year. Thank you!”

“I don’t get to do many fun things anymore. I spend almost all my time at the teen drop-in center (Tahoe Youth & Family in the Ranchos). Thank you so much! I can’t believe I get a haircut too!!”

“Our home burned down last year a couple days before your event and we couldn’t come. Your club donated bags of clothes and things for our new house. This year we were able to come. Thank you so much! We still aren’t back on our feet, but this really is a blessing!!”

And there’s always one that brings tears to my eyes….
“I haven’t seen (my son) smile in so long. He walked into McDonald’s grinning from ear to ear! I was so happy, I love him and want him to be happy. Thank you for this. Thank you for helping my son smile again.”
